Pedicure in Kathmandu

Pedicure in Kathmandu

Professional pedicure treatment is a comprehensive foot and nail care session that covers everything from nail grooming and callus removal to deep exfoliation, moisturising, and a relaxing foot massage. At Real Therapy Spa in Thamel, Kathmandu, our pedicure goes well beyond cosmetic nail care — the foot massage and skin treatment components make it a genuinely therapeutic experience, especially for travellers and trekkers whose feet have been through days of hard use.

Your feet do more work than any other body part during travel, yet they're often the most neglected. A professional pedicure addresses the accumulated damage — calluses, dry skin, rough heels, neglected nails — and the foot massage relieves the deep fatigue that walking, hiking, and standing creates. For more intensive foot therapy with reflexology, see our dedicated foot massage and reflexology treatment.

Who Should Get a Pedicure?

Trekkers returning from Himalayan trails. Multi-day treks create blisters, calluses, compressed toenails, dry skin, and deep foot fatigue. A pedicure addresses all of these — cleaning and treating the nails, removing the calluses that trekking builds up, exfoliating weather-damaged skin, and relieving foot tension through massage. Book within a day of returning to Kathmandu for the best recovery.

Travellers who've been on their feet all day. Even city walking in Kathmandu puts significant mileage on your feet. A pedicure at the end of a long sightseeing day restores comfort and keeps your feet healthy for the rest of your trip.

Anyone with calluses, rough heels, or neglected nails. These problems worsen gradually and are difficult to manage without professional tools. The callus removal, heel treatment, and nail care in a professional pedicure resolve issues that home care can't adequately address.

Clients wanting a relaxing, therapeutic foot treatment. The foot soak and massage components make pedicure one of our most relaxing services. Many clients book it purely for the therapeutic benefit, with the nail grooming as a bonus.

What's Included

Warm foot soak. Feet are soaked in warm water with therapeutic additives to soften the skin, nails, and calluses. This relaxes the feet immediately and prepares them for the grooming steps that follow.

Nail trimming and shaping. Toenails are carefully trimmed to the correct length and shape — preventing ingrown nails, splitting, and the pressure discomfort that poorly maintained toenails cause, especially in closed hiking boots.

Cuticle care. Cuticles are softened, pushed back, and trimmed where needed. Clean cuticle maintenance promotes healthy nail growth and prevents infection.

Callus and dead skin removal. Using professional tools, the therapist removes built-up calluses from the heels, balls of the feet, and toes. Hard, thickened skin is carefully reduced to a comfortable level — not removed entirely, as some callus provides natural protection.

Foot and leg exfoliation. A scrub is applied to the feet and lower legs, removing dead skin cells and improving skin texture. This step is especially valuable for feet that have been exposed to dust, dry air, and harsh trail conditions.

Foot and lower leg massage. Using moisturising cream or oil, the therapist massages the feet, ankles, and calves. This relieves tension in the plantar fascia and arch muscles, improves circulation, and deeply hydrates the skin. The massage is the highlight of the pedicure for most clients.

Polish application (optional). A base coat, colour, and top coat for a polished finish, or a clear coat / natural buff for a clean, subtle look.

Benefits of Professional Pedicure

Healthy, well-maintained nails. Professional trimming and shaping prevent the ingrown toenails, splitting, and fungal issues that result from neglected foot care — problems that are both painful and difficult to treat once established.

Smooth, comfortable feet. Callus removal and exfoliation eliminate the rough, cracked skin that causes discomfort in shoes and sandals. Heels that were dry and cracked become smooth and healthy.

Foot pain relief. The massage component addresses tension in the plantar fascia, arch muscles, and calves — providing relief from the aching that standing, walking, and trekking create. Combined with the warm soak, this is deeply therapeutic.

Improved skin health. Exfoliation and deep moisturising restore the skin's barrier function, reducing cracking and dryness. Regular pedicures (every 4–6 weeks) maintain foot skin in optimal condition.

Prevention of foot problems. Regular professional care catches early signs of ingrown nails, fungal infections, and excessive callus buildup before they become painful problems.
